The most honest and in-depth Singapore food reviews, from hawker food to cafes to fancy restaurants. Our passion for food means we only share the best!
Chatterbox is perhaps best known for selling the most expensive chicken rice in Singapore. Laksa and rojak are also amongst the beloved hawker dishes that are given the same luxury treatment.
Antea Social is its own cosy little pocket universe. With gentle pink accents, warm trendy furnishing and elegant teaware, it looked like a set out of a Kinfolk Magazine shoot. Perhaps one of the most aesthetic cafes in Singapore.
Cloudstreet is the second child of Rishi Naleendra, who first made his mark first on the Singapore restaurant scene through Cheek by Jowl, now rebranded as Cheek Bistro. He was awarded his first Michelin Star at Cheek in 2018 and is on track to open his third restaurant in Singapore.
Micro Bakery was a relative newcomer that quickly already solidified its stature in the artisan bakery scene in the span of a year. Sourdough is ubiquitous in Singapore right now, used in all manners of dough including pizza dough — and this humble bakery was one of the trailblazers.
Stateland Coffeehouse has been reborn as Brotherbird Coffeehouse. The previously popular cafe known for unique items like their mochi donut soft-serve shuttered late last year. They have rebranded for their offshoot to take the main stage.
Izakaya Niningashi is one of my favourites izakayas. There’s something unique about authentic Izakayas, quite a special sub-culture in Singapore. Imagine thundering chatter as rowdy Japanese salarymen make merry, high on alcohol. Continue reading “Izakaya Niningashi”
[Update: Tiong Bahru Yi Sheng Hokkien Mee has closed.] With regular queues of up to an hour and a Michelin Bib Gourmand Award, is Tiong Bahru Yi Sheng Hokkien Mee that good? Well, the ABC Brickworks store is my favourite Hokkien Mee ($4/5/6) in Singapore.
[Update: Cheek Bistro has closed and reopened as Fool Wine Bar.] I have long wanted to try Cheek Bistro, alas the Circuit Breaker hit. Thanks to my friend @melmeleats for treating me to this amazing Michelin-Starred meal during Circuit Breaker! (Editor’s note: it has since rebranded into Fool Wine Bar)
Creations that could make even angels weep with masochistic pleasure. Global Mat Soul Kitchen are touted as one of the best briyanis in Singapore, and even international sources like Vice featured them.
