One would expect skewers as their signatures given the name, but all eyes were on the 𝗳𝗿𝗶𝗲𝗱 𝗺𝗮𝗻𝘁𝗼𝘂 𝘀𝗹𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘀. Maybe slightly greasy but that’s easily forgotten after indulging in the mix of decadent crunch and blissful fluff. Most of the best-tasting food is unhealthy, after all.

The 𝘀𝗼𝗳𝘁 𝘀𝗵𝗲𝗹𝗹 𝗰𝗵𝗶𝗹𝗹𝗶 𝗰𝗿𝗮𝗯 ($11.90) was delightful and left me craving for more of that medley of sprightly sweetness, gentle heat, and lightly crispy crab. Alternatively, go for the 𝗷𝘂𝗶𝗰𝘆 𝗯𝗲𝗲𝗳 𝗯𝗿𝗶𝘀𝗸𝗲𝘁 ($10.90) version, deftly flanked by piquant slaw and cheese to good effect.

Meet the 𝗿𝗮𝘃𝗶𝗼𝗹𝗼 𝗮𝗹 𝘂𝗼𝘃𝗼. Not an oft-seen pasta but this gorgeous little disk is surprisingly easy to make. Don't mistake it for mere egg porn too — it's a package of opulent flavours and silky textures sure to leave you on cloud nine. One was honestly not enough. 🥺 So here's a recipe for four (or more, just maff).
-
Pasta dough:
100g AP flour
1 large egg
-
Filling:
125g Ricotta
58g grated parmesan
1 tsp nutmeg
1/2 lemon zest
Handful chopped parsley
4 egg yolks
-
Sauce:
4 tbsp butter
Handful Sage
-
1) Roll out pasta dough to second thinnest setting on pasta machine or, if using rolling pin, thin enough to see your fingers' silhouette. Split into two sheets.
-
2) Lightly imprint ring outline on one then place mixed filling within, leaving a small well to plop the yolk. Gently wet the outline. Place other sheet over while ensuring a good seal, then cut out the ravioli.
-
3) Bring pot of salted water to boil. Heat butter in frying pan with sage, until browned. Ravioli goes into water until they float, then straight into sauce without drying. The coat of starchy water emulsifies the sauce.
-
4) Finish with a generous shaving of parm, salt and pepper. Get a nice egg porn shot for the gram. Voila. 📸🍳

-
If you're not sure what to get, simple no-frill flavours like cinnamon or almond can never go wrong. The pretzels greet you with a delectable mix of softness and chewiness, whilst a touch of sugar crunch and sweetness acted as a nice finishing touch.
-
If you like chocolate, their chocolate eclair pretzel sported smooth and rich coating, but it was rather forgettable IMO. However, I've been told their savoury flavours are better, and I might give them a try next time.

[Media Drop] Need fuel for all dem new year resolu [Media Drop] Need fuel for all dem new year resolutions? @bootstrapcoldbrewsg's 𝗰𝗼𝗹𝗱 𝗯𝗿𝗲𝘄 𝗺𝗶𝘅 𝗽𝗮𝗰𝗸 ($35) will help you pull up ALL your bootstraps with its caffeinated goodness. 💪🏻 This is bona fide cold brew that's been steeped for 15 hours, not the prevalent espresso-based "cold brew" variants, and keeps for a decent while.
-
Their 𝗯𝗹𝗮𝗰𝗸 𝗰𝗼𝗹𝗱 𝗯𝗿𝗲𝘄 was smooth and bolstered by malty undertones and a soft floral touch. It came with a stronger version, more robust and more intense, that's good for mixing with milk. 🥛☕
-
My favourite though, was the 𝗰𝗼𝗳𝗳𝗲𝗲 𝗺𝗮𝗻𝘂𝗸𝗮 with an injection of vivid honey notes.🍯 I couldn't get enough of that velvety mouthfeel and perky sweetness. Wanna switch it up? There're also solid tea options. The 𝗵𝗼𝗷𝗶𝗰𝗵𝗮 𝗰𝗼𝗹𝗱 𝗯𝗿𝗲𝘄 was smooth and quite enjoyable with a gentle roasted fragrance.
-
The truth is, espresso-based "cold brews" lose flavour before the stipulated expiration. If you want to avoid frequent restocks and have good brews always ready, try Bootstrap's cold brews. Maybe even get the cold brew subscription, so you never have to worry with dependable brews always at the ready.

Thanks @bootstrapcoldbrewsg for sending it over!

As the train of time inches towards station 2021, As the train of time inches towards station 2021, many must be wondering how a seemingly standard journey derailed into a monstrous roller coaster ride. It's a bittersweet year for sure, but there are always silver linings. One of mine was finding @saltedandhung's 𝘄𝗮𝗴𝘆𝘂 𝗽𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗺𝗶 𝘀𝗮𝗻𝗱𝘄𝗶𝗰𝗵 .
-
It's one of my first CB takeaways, and also a blow-away. That's why I went back for it again. Truly a behemoth of a sandwich, and gratuitously loaded with tender, flavourful pastrami too. Slices of toasted sourdough bookended the pastrami beautifully, much like phase 3 finishing the year on a sweet note.
-
Pickles lent a piercing levity to the heavy flavours of a sandwich that's basically the epitome of smokiness. If anything, that's proof that wonders can be created from smouldering embers. It's my hope that everyone comes out "Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger", to quote renowned French thought leaders Daft Punk.

I remember my first experience at @_platform._ was I remember my first experience at @_platform._ was a lazy rainy afternoon. I observed as young slivers of sunlight meekly peered through the tall windows. The rays nonchalantly bent over the dried flowers to scatter through the glasses, casting brittle shadows. It was a pocket universe where time lingered. See my film snapshots on @edgymillennialphotos, the mood is palpable.
-
Slow living is a tangible spirit here, felt through every inch of the concept, especially eloquently distilled into their light roast 𝗽𝗼𝘂𝗿𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿 𝗰𝗼𝗳𝗳𝗲𝗲𝘀 ($9). Crisp, transparent, gentle on the palate and blessed with an almost weightless mouthfeel. If ambiance had a taste, platform's is clean and indescribably blissful.
-
Platform isn't merely a cafe either. It's the spiritual successor of defunct Fancy, brain child of the World Class 2017 winner. Understated mixology makes platform — evident even through simple but efficacious non-alcoholic concoctions like the 𝗦𝗵𝗶𝘀𝗼 𝗣𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗹𝗹𝗮 ($13) spritz.
-
Striking herbaceous notes embraced soft salty undertones, enlivined by a touch of ginger beer spice. A myriad of small unobtrusive nuances that adhere to a harmonious big picture. Enjoyable drinks in a lovely space — but be prepared for steeper prices as well.
