Singapore has been graced by an inundation of wine bars, as countless groovy, cutting-edge concepts streamed in. Eventually, even Michelin-Starred chefs joined the fray — like fusion maestro Rishi Naleendran’s Fool Wine Bar and Andrew Walsh‘s Club Street Wine Room.

“Mise-en-scène” is a term that describes the setting of a scene in a play, film, or art piece. It encompasses every fine detail from the mood and the lighting to space usage. To me, complimenting a restaurant for crafting out perfect mise-en-scène is extremely high praise. And for Claudine Restaurant, its immaculate setting at Dempsey Hill could not be more perfect.
My hunt for good fish & chips in Singapore can be considered cursed. Other than Cheek Bistro, which had sadly transformed into Fool Wine Bar, most disappointed. [Update: California Republic has closed.] Despite being the interconnected metropolis it is, there are still certain cuisines that are scantly featured in Singapore.
